Romans Road to Salvation

The Romans Road is the most basic and essential truth of anyone who claims to be “saved”. I want every one to read through this, Christian or not Christian. For the Christian it’s always good to go back to the beginning and refresh ourselves. For those who are not saved, it has to start here, with understanding these verses. I encourage you to join Christ’s family. There is truly nothing like it.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

This teaches us that no one is perfect. Every single person on the planet, except Jesus, has sinned. It also says we can’t work our way into eternal life with God. It doesn’t matter how bad or good someone is because we are all sinners.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

The first part means what it says. The next part is saying salvation is a gift for those who go to God through Jesus. The word gift is important here. Salvation isn’t something you can work for. It’s a gift from God. That is the only way to have eternal life.

Romans 5:8

God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Can you imagine having so much love for all humanity, you sent your own son to die for them? All the people then and now and in the future and all the sin that each person has. I don’t think any human can understand how deep God’s love is for us. All we need to understand is his love for us is that great. No person will ever love us like God. People let each other down at one point or another, but God does not.

Romans 10:9-10

If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.

This is important to understand. You have to truly believe in your heart and tell others that Jesus is lord. You cannot be saved if you only believe half way and you can’t be silent about your salvation. You will not want to stay silent about it because God has already started working with you. There is no promise of an easy life as a Christian, but you have God leading you through the good and bad times and he will get you where you need to be.

Romans 10:13

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

This is where we get to the sinners prayer. If you are not saved yet, and you want to invite Christ in your heart then pray this prayer:

Lord I come bowed down because I’m a sinner. I’m sorry for my sins and I believe that you are God’s son who was resurrected. Please forgive me and I invite you into my heart and my life because I need you, and I have faith in you. In Jesus name, Amen.

Now you are saved by grace, through your faith in Jesus. Find a church home, somewhere you can grow and learn. Make sure they teach about salvation. Then you tell the pastor you have been saved, and want to be baptized because you want to follow Jesus’s example.
